Last month, The QS World University Rankings 2013-14 placed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the top of its lists of the world's best higher-education institutions.

Now, Times Higher Education, a London-based magazine, has compiled its World University Rankings for 2013-14. At the top of its list is the California Institute of Technology.

The Times Higher Education list uses 13 performance indicators to judge institutions “across all of their core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.” Here are the 10 highest-ranked universities for 2013-14.
