U.S. universities with the highest number of international students

Institutions on the east and west coasts make up the majority of the 10 schools with the most students from other nations.

In 2015-16, the number of international students attending U.S. higher education institutions surpassed 1 million, according to The International Institute of Education's Open Doors report.

Those students attend colleges and universities throughout the United States, but the campuses that have the highest numbers of international students tend to be on either the east or west coast. Of the 10 universities with the most students from other nations, two are in New York City, two are in Boston, two are in Los Angeles and one is in Seattle. New York University topped the list with 15,543 international students in 2015-16
