States projected to have the most public high school students, fall 2018

The National Center for Education Statistics projects that 15,165,800 students will be enrolled in grades 9 to 12 in public schools.

More than 15.1 million students are expected to be enrolled in public high schools in fall 2018.

In its Digest of Education Statistics, 2016, the National Center for Education Statistics says that California and Texas lead the way in projected high school enrollment—they are the only states expected to have more than 1 million public high school students.
