A report from the Lumina Foundation, A Stronger Nation through Higher Education, has found that in 2011, 38.7 percent of the nation's population aged 25 to 64 had obtained at least an associate's degree. (That's a slight increase from the 2010 figure of 38.3 percent.)

The report measures progress toward Goal 2025, which is a national effort to increase the percentage of Americans with high-quality degrees and credentials to 60 percent by the year 2025.
