Best U.S. universities: A British perspective

These 10 schools were rated the highest by Times Higher Education.

Times Higher Education, based in London's compiles a yearly list of the world's top universities.

The 2015-16 list ranks some 800 higher-education institutions; 147 of those are in the United States.

The publication determines its rankings by evaluating 13 performance indicators, such as faculty-student ratios, global reputation, total resources, international mix on campus, links to business and research excellence.

Here are the 10 U.S. universities rated as the best by Times Higher Education.
