A Trinity (Texas) district was struck from behind on the highway as it was stopped to pick up a student.

7-year-old girl killed, 10 injured in Texas when truck crashes into rear of school van

Trinity (Texas) district had stopped on the highway to pick up a child when a truck crashed into the van.

A 7-year-old girl was killed and several students were injured Thursday morning in Trinity County, Texas, when a truck crashed into a school van that was stopped on the highway.

​KHOU-TV  reports that 17-year-old Micah Brock crashed her 2008 Ford pickup into the back of the Trinity Independent School District van on FM Highway 1893 in Trinity County. The van had stopped to pick up a child just before 7:30 a.m.

The victim has been identified as Journey Magness, 7. The Trinity County Sheriff says she is the daughter of Sheriff's Deputy David Magness.

Ten other students, ranging in age from 5 to 15 years old, sustained injuries that were considered non-life-threatending, authorities say.

The children on the van were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, police say.

Trinity is about 80 miles north of Houston.
