The Lorain, Ohio, school district plans to build nine elementary schools, demolish nine others and renovate five more in a project estimated to cost $195 million. The five-year project also includes new middle schools and renovations to both high schools. The state will pay 81 percent of the cost, and the district will have to raise about $37 million.
