Expansion in Edmonton: The Singhmar Centre for Learning at NorQuest College

Four-story 22,500-square-meter facility opened earlier this year.

NorQuest College in Edmonton, Alberta, says its $192 million Singhmar Centre for Learning helps consolidate its dispersed
facilities into a single downtown campus.

The four-story 22,500-square-meter facility, which opened in September, provides spaces for students to study, take a break, and make friends in other programs.

It includes a spacious atrium in the middle of the building, a large library and media center on the second floor with plenty of study spaces, and a cafeteria on the main level.

The facility has been designed to achieve LEED Silver certification. Access to daylight was a major focus in the design. The central student commons atrium filters daylight from the roof to the deepest part of the building. Inner classrooms have windows facing the atrium, so even those classrooms have access to daylight.

The architect is DIALOG, and the builder is PCL Construction.
