Cypress-Fairbanks (Texas) district set to open 12th high school

July 24, 2017
The $140.8 Million Bridgeland High School will welcome freshmen and sophomores next month.

The Cypress-Fairbanks (Texas) district is getting ready to open its 12th high school.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Bridgeland High School, a $140.8 million campus in Cypress, Texas, will open in August for students in ninth and 10th grades. It is expected to have about 1,250 students in 2017-18. Junior and senior classes will be added in subsequent years.

The 573,460-square-foot campus eventually will serve about 3,300 students. It has a four-story academic wing, collaboration spaces, a community building for fine arts and indoor athletics, dining facility, and central utility plant building.

The architect is IBI Group Architects, and the builder is Gilbane Building Co.

Bridgeland will be part of a 120-acre multicampus site. The district also is opening Wells Elementary on the tract this summer, and future plans call for a middle school to be built there.

The steadily growing Cypress-Fairbanks school system is the third largest in the Lone Star State with more than 114,000 students. It has built 42 schools since 2000.
