Finger Lakes Community College facility is rising on the site of a former high school.

Finger Lakes Community College is preparing to open a new campus next month in Geneva, N.Y.

The Finger Lakes Times reports that $14 million Geneva Campus Center is being built on the site of what was Geneva Middle School, and before that, Geneva High School.

The 32,000-square-foot project is a combination of new construction and renovation of what is referred to as the “1965 wing” of the former high school. The campus will have nine general classrooms; two computer labs; one biology lab; two emergency medical service labs; a certified nurse assistant training classroom; a lounge/study area; an academic support center; an adult basic education center; offices and a conference room.

Before the plan was in place for a permanent community college campus in Geneva. classes were held in two former high school buildings and the former civic center.

The community college says that 300 to 350 students attend day and night classes on its Geneva campus.
