Clark County Offers Superintendent Job

Colorado Commissioner of Education Dwight D. Jones has been offered the job of superintendent of the Clark County (Nev.) School District, the nation's fifth-largest K-12 system with more than 310,000 students.

Colorado Commissioner of Education Dwight D. Jones has been offered the job of superintendent of the Clark County (Nev.) School District, the nation’s fifth-largest K-12 system with more than 310,000 students.

As education commissioner in Colorado, Jones was credited with helping rewrite the state standards for educational content and streamlining the state’s accountability system. He began his education career as a teacher in Junction City, Kan., and served as an administrator at other districts in Kansas and Colorado before assuming the commissioner’s job in 2007.

Jones would succeed Walt Rulffes, who has been Clark County’s superintendent since early 2006.
