U.S. Green Building Council hopes online catalog will spur more innovation

The U.S. Green Building Council has created an online Innovation & Design Credit Catalog to assist builders and designers trying to earn LEED points in those areas. The catalog lists green building strategies that have been used in LEED-certified projects. Projects can receive Innovation & Design credits as part of the LEED certification process by demonstrating quantifiable environmental benefits through strategies and techniques not specifically delineated in the LEED Rating System. Brendan Owens, Vice President of LEED Technical Development for the USGBC, says that by publicizing the innovations in the catalog, the council hopes to inspire designers and builders to come up with further innovations.
