Boulder middle school aims for LEED gold

City council contributed $1.8 million to help school district build environmentally friendly facility
Officials in Boulder, Colo., district want to make the $31 million Casey Middle School that the district is building to be a "green" showplace. The Boulder City Council has provided $1.8 million to the district so Casey can try for the gold standard of Leadership in Engineering and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Among the green elements being considered are a green roof, extensive daylighting, and ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and water use. After demolition, the intent is to recycle as much of the old building material as possible.To read The Daily Camera article, click here.
