Lodging at Penn State to get Energy Upgrade

Pennsylvania State University will upgrade the energy management systems at the Nittany Lion Inn and the Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center in State College. </>

The facilities will receive energy conservation measures such as lighting and lighting-control-system improvements, water-reduction measures and weatherization improvements. An energy-service company is providing the improvements as part of a guaranteed energy savings contract (GESC) with the university.

Penn State expects that the energy upgrades will reduce annual utility consumption at the facilities by more than 17 percent.

The Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center is a five-story structure with about 300 guest rooms and a 10,000-square-foot ballroom. The Nittany Lion Inn, has a mix of meeting rooms, banquets halls, restaurant and guest rooms. It was constructed in 1931, with major additions in 1954 and 1992.
