Mark Yudof must cope with budget cuts on the horizon

Mark Yudof is beginning his tenure as president of the 10-campus University of California system in the midst of much-protested student fee increases and anticipated belt-tightening. Yudof, 63, faces a career-defining challenge. He has spent the previous six years as chancellor of the University of Texas system.
