District is looking at installing surveillance cameras at its largest high school

The Ann Arbor (Mich.) School District is considering putting surveillance cameras in Pioneer High School, but the student council has passed a resolution against the plan and has brought in the American Civil Liberties Union to help students oppose the plan. School officials said vandalism and theft have been a problem at the school and the cameras are a step toward curbing that. But opponents worry that the cameras infringe on civil rights and question whether they help with security.
