More than 20,000 Milwaukee students use vouchers to attend private schools

Public school enrollment has dipped below 80,000

The number of Milwaukee children using publicly funded vouchers to attend private schools has crossed 20,000 for the first time, according to data released by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. At the same time, the number of students in Milwaukee Public Schools has declined for at least the 10th year in a row and has fallen below 80,000 for the first time in well over a decade.
