Harvard will limit emissions at Boston development

The university will cut greenhouse gas emissions 50 percent below national standards.

Harvard University has agreed to limit greenhouse gas emissions from its proposed four-building science center in the Allston section of Boston. The agreement will cut emissions 50 percent below the levels required by the national standard. Massachusetts officials say the Harvard agreement represents the first legally enforceable limits on emissions from a large real-estate project. The complex is 537,000 square feet.
