Jean-Claude Brizard cites lack of compatibility with Mayor Rahm Emanuel

FromThe Chicago Tribune: Jean-Claude Brizard has resigned as CEO of the Chicago public school system. Brizard has served in the job for 17 months and was chosen by Mayor Rahm Emanuel to lead the nation's third-largest district. Brizard says he approached Emanuel about the leaving the district after hearing that the mayor wasn’t happy with him. Brizard's departure comes three weeks after the end of the city's first teachers strike in 25 years. He will be replaced by the school system's chief education officer, Barbara Byrd-Bennett, a former CEO in the Cleveland school system.

RELATED...from The Chicago Sun-Times: Byrd-Bennett is no stranger to a challenge. She was tapped to reform two of the country’s lowest-scoring districts — in Cleveland and Detroit — and was responsible for overseeing the worst-performing schools in New York City as head of that system’s Chancellor’s District.
