Many security advocates contend that use of some barricade devices on classroom doors to prevent an intruder’s entry may create other safety problems.

Fatal shootings and other violent episodes on school campuses have focused attention on keeping students and staff safe, but for administrators, it’s not always clear what is the most effective way to provide that security.
