The boys, 15 and 12, allegedly were holding a gun while they posted threats on social media.

Two boys, 15 and 12, have been charged with making threats against a high school in Park Ridge, Ill.

CBS Chicago reports that police received an anonymous tip Monday morning regarding two boys who posted threatening messages on social media that showed them holding a firearm and included references to them using that firearm during summer classes at Maine South High School in Park Ridge, a suburb northwest of Chicago. The older boy is a student at  Maine South.

“When we went to the 12-year-old’s residence, we did locate three firearms — three pistols," Deputy Police Chief Lou Jogmen says. "And one of them could be confirmed as being seen in the post.”

Jogmen says none of the handguns were loaded.

Both boys have been charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon and one count of disorderly conduct, authorities say.
