Guidelines can inform students what is appropriate when communicating on social media outlets.

As online access becomes more available to students through laptops, tablets, smartphones and other devices, education institutions have to pay greater attention to how students use technology and with whom they are interacting. That includes establishing policies for when and how students use Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook and other social media outlets, and making students aware of the risks of that activity.
