The Sweetwater Union (Calif.) High School District has plans in the works to build two schools in Chula Vista, but for the second time this year, board members have declined to move forward with the projects.
UT-San Diego reports that a request to approve the design-build process for a new middle school and high school was put before the board this week, but after discussing the situation, members did not bring the issue to a vote.
The entire board--all five members--was elected in November, and the panel decided in January to table action on the construction projects until they could learn more about them. The district also is without a permanent superintendent, and some board members expressed concern about pursuing the construction plans because of that.
