The Dallas school board has named Mike Miles as the district's new superintendent.

The Dallas school board has named Mike Miles as the district’s new superintendent. He comes to Texas from the Harrison School District Two in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he served as superintendent for nearly six years.

Miles started his career in education in 1995 as a high school teacher in Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8, based in Fountain, Colo. He was a middle school principal, coordinator of administration services and from 2003 to 2006 served as assistant superintendent there.

The Dallas district will pay Miles a salary of $300,000; his first official day on the job will be July 1.
