Superintendent James Bridges said that the Jefferson school district in Tracy, Calif., does not have the funds to complete two ongoing construction projects, the Tracy Press reported. Bridges cited unforeseen construction costs as the reason for the deficit.
The school district will need to sell more bonds to finish construction at Jefferson and Traina elementary schools because the site prep is costing close to $7 million, far beyond the prep costs incurred by most schools built within the city limit.
The construction woes will likely delay the opening of schools.
