Video: Audit says $48.4 million in equipment is missing from Shelby County (Tenn.) schools

44,000 pieces of equipment from the former Memphis district and 10,000 pieces from the former county district are unaccounted for.

Video from WMC-TV: An audit of the Shelby County (Tenn.) School District says that $48.4 million in school equipment is missing from newly formed school system. The audit, conducted by a Maryland-based firm, says that among the more than 54,000 pieces of equipment are laptops, tools, hard drives, and driver-training cars. More than 44,000 of the missing pieces are from what had been the Memphis City district, and 10,200 pieces are missing from the what had been the county district. The two systems merged earlier this year.
