Two Sacramento elementary schools won't have to close

March 8, 2013
Board had been asked to choose which one should close, but decides to keep both open.

Two schools that had been targeted for closing in the Sacramento Unified District will remain open. The Sacramento Bee says the board has voted to keep both Tahoe Elementary and Mark Twain Elementary schools open. The board had been asked to choose which of the two schools should close, but at a board meeting, Superintendent Jonathan Raymond recommended that both schools continue operating. Two weeks ago, the board decided close seven other campuses because of districtwide enrollment declines.
