Topeka proposal would lead to closing of 3 elementary schools

District is considering a $142 million bond election that would close 3 elementaries and build a new school adjacent to a middle school.

The Topeka (Kan.) district is considering a $142 million bond proposal that would result in three elementary schools closing. The Topeka Capital-Journal says the three elementaries in question are Bishop, Avondale West and Shaner. Students at those schools would move to a new elementary to be built next to Jardine Middle School. The school board will decide whether to put the proposal before voters in April.
