Texas man falls to his death from campus construction crane

Standoff with police at Southern Methodist University ends after 14 hours.

From The Fort Worth Star-Telegram: After a 14-hour standoff with police, a 44-year-old man fell to his death from a construction crane on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas. The man was identified as Lee Dell Thomas Jr. of Dallas. He had told police that he was armed and threatened to shoot anyone who approached him. Thomas had also covered the area around the cab with a greasy substance to keep officers from reaching him.
