Michigan Department of Education releases aid payments that it was withholding

Schools in the Buena Vista (Mich.) district are back open after a two-week closure. The Saginaw News says students were able to return to class Monday after state officials accepted the district's revised deficit-elimination plan and released $460,000 it was withholding in state aid. The money was being withheld because state officials discovered that Buena Vista had spent $401,962.51 in state funding for students who no longer attended the district.
