Steubenville (Ohio) superintendent indicted following district's response to student rape

Steubenville (Ohio) Schools Superintendent Michael McVey and two other school district employees have been indicted by a grand jury on charges stemming from their actions following an August 2012 rape of a drunken teenage girl at a party. The Steubenville Herald-Star reports that McVey is charged with obstructing justice and falsification and tampering with evidence. Seth Fluharty, a strength and wrestling coach, and Lynette Gorman, principal at Pugliese West Elementary, are charged with failure to report child abuse or neglect. Two student athletes from Steubenville High School were convicted earlier this year of rape; in addition, the district's technology director faces charges of tampering with evidence and obstructing justice.

UPDATE: Three Steubenville school employees, including Superintendent Mike McVey, have been placed on paid administrative leave, and the Steubenville school board has asked retired Superintendent Richard Ranallo to serve as the interim acting school superintendent. (The Steubenville Herald-Star)
