Security officer leaves gun unattended in bathroom of charter school

Chatfield School in Lapeer, Mich., hired retired police officer to boost security.

From The Flint Journal: A security officer at a charter school in Lapeer, Mich., left a firearm unattended in a school bathroom earlier this week. Matt Young, director of the Chatfield School, says that “at no time was any student involved in this breach of protocol.” The school recently hired the officer, who is retired from the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office, to bolster security. Chatfield serves grades K-8 and has been open since 1997.
