Sept. 18, 2013
District is building more classrooms even though it just closed four dozen underutilized campuses

Even though Chicago has closed about four dozen public schools and slashed school budgets across the city, the district is pursuing new construction projects. The Chicago Tribune says the district has announced plans for a new elementary on the Southeast Side, an annex to an elementary on the Northwest Side, and and renovation of a high school on the West Side.
