The snowstorms that have wreaked havoc across much of the nation have undoubtedly presented a challenge to school facilities, but Reed College in Portland, Ore., sustained unexpected damage when two students built a reported 800-pound snowball that got away from them and crashed into the Reed College Apartments, the Reed Magazine reported. The students were cheered on by others and encouraged to make the snowball as large as possible by rolling it down the sidewalk. The “runaway” snowball subsequently careened down a hill and crashed into the dorm. The college estimates the damage at between $2,000-$3,000. No one was hurt or disciplined in the incident.
