The campuses in St. Pete Beach and Clearwater were closed in 2009

Residents and city officials in St. Pete Beach, Fla., say they support a proposal from Pinellas County school administrators to reopen Gulf Beaches Elementary, which closed in 2009. The Tampa Bay Times says a plan spearheaded by superintendent Michael Grego calls for reopening Gulf Beaches and Kings Highway Elementary in Clearwater. Instead of serving as neighborhood schools, the campuses would become technology magnets drawing students from throughout the area.
