Millcreek Township board says closing Ridgefield and Vernondale campuses will save $2 million a year.

The Millcreek Township (Pa.) school board has voted formally to close Ridgefield and Vernondale elementary schools. The Erie Times-News says closing the campuses will help bridge what started out as an $8.8 million budget gap for 2013-14. District administrators say the closure will save about $2 million per year in operational costs. Teachers have been reassigned to other schools.
