A group of impatient parents is pressing the St. John the Baptist Parish (La.) School Board to establish a plan and timeline for reopening two schools damaged last year by Hurricane Isaac. The New Orleans Times-Picayune says more than 2,000 students have been displaced from Lake Pontchartrain Elementary and East St. John High School after the storm flooded those campuses. District officials say they can't move forward with reconstruction plans until they work out an agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on recovery funds. They estimate it will take nearly $70 million to repair the two campuses.
