Newtown, Conn., voters approve state grant to build new Sandy Hook Elementary

Voters in Newtown, Conn., have approved a $50 million grant from the state of Connecticut that will enable the town to build a new Sandy Hook Elementary School. Newtown Patch says the new school is expected to be finished in 2016. The school system decided to replace the existing Sandy Hook building, where 20 students and six adults were shot to death by an intruder. Students from Sandy Hook are attending classes at a temporary site in nearby Monroe until the news campus is ready.
