New building at New Jersey school aims for LEED platinum

The Willow School, an independent school in Somerset County, N.J., serving preschool through eighth grade, has broken ground on a Health, Wellness and Nutrition Center with a design that aims to achieve LEED Platinum certification. The Bridgewater Courier-News says the $6.6 million, 20,000-square-foot educational building is expected to be completed in early 2014. School officials say the wellness center is designed to produce more solar energy than it uses, harvest more water than it consumes, and generate no waste that is not recycled for other purposes.
