Long Island district seeks bigger schools

The Hempstead school district board has decided that the Long Island, N.Y., school district needs nine new and bigger schools. This follows district officials’ request for proposals in their quest to find a consultant who can secure grants and state funding to improve and construct new school facilities. The project could cost as much as $350 million, according to the Long Island Newsday
