Germantown, Tenn., approves deal that leaves 3 schools in the city in the Shelby County district

County will maintain control of Germantown Elementary, Middle and High schools when Germantown begins operating its own school system.

Video from WREG-TV: The Germantown (Tenn.) Board of Aldermen has approved a deal with the Shelby County School District for use of school buildings in its new district. Germantown will take control of five school buildings, but the county will retain Germantown Elementary, Middle and High schools. Germantown is the last of six Memphis suburbs to reach an agreement that will enable those municipalities to break off from the merged Memphis-Shelby County school system and create their own districts.
