Eastern Michigan has replaced its green artificial turf at Rynearson Stadium with gray FieldTurf – a move that is intended to give the field an industrial look, the Associated Press reported. “Hey, a factory's a place where you go to work, you know? It's blue-collar, and you get better. Things are built there," new coach Chris Creighton told the AP. To drive the point home, the school has nicknamed the stadium “The Factory.”

The university plans to pay for the field with a portion of the $1 million it expects to collect for playing at Florida and Michigan State. Eastern Michigan joins Boise State (whose stadium sports bright blue turf) as the only two schools in the Football Bowl Subdivision to shun the customary green field.
