District in Oklahoma dissolves amid financial trouble

Students from Farris district now attend Lane district, officials try to resolve financial issues.

The public school in Farris, Okla., has shut down, and the struggling district has been annexed by the Lane district. The Oklahoman says voters decided to dissolve the Farris district after it received a grade of F from the state Education Department. About 50 students from Farris now attend Lane Public School, but a fight over the Farris district's finances continues. The state auditor and inspector is investigating the Farris district, and the Farris district is suing Lane and the state Education Department.
