Enrollment in Colorado public schools has increased for the 24th year in a row to nearly 877,000 students, a statewide increase of more than 40 percent over the past two decades. The Denver Post reports that data from the state's education department show that 13,438 additional pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students enrolled in Colorado schools in 2013-14, a 1.6 percent increase from the previous school year. The Denver district grew to 86,043 students and has reclaimed its place as the largest school system in the state for the first time in about four decades. The Jefferson County district, with 85,983 students, dropped to second largest.
