Contaminated soil suspends Honolulu high school field renovations

Work on a high school athletic field in Honolulu has come to a halt after subsurface soil tested positive for contaminants, the Associated Press reported. The Radford High School field, which has been off-limits to students and staff since the renovations started in mid-December, was built on an old Navy dumpsite. The contaminated area will now have to be assessed and cleaned up before work can resume.
