Charter school projections may slow construction of traditional campuses in Hillsborough County (Fla.) district

State of Florida estimates that more than 19,000 in the county will be attending charters by 2017-18

The Hillsborough County (Fla.) district will build an elementary and a middle school in the southeastern part of the county and is renovating three elementaries this year. Tampabay.com says the prospect for additional building projects is unclear as the state continues to direct its capital education dollars to charter schools. The state projects that charter school population in Hillsborough County will increase from 11,894 in 2012-2013 to 19,410 in 2017-2018.
