The Buffalo (N.Y.) school board has approved a plan to transfer children out of underperforming schools, The Buffalo News reports that the school choice plan provides for the transfer of between 300 and 500 students--out of nearly 2,200 requests--from underperforming schools into other Buffalo schools in good standing with the state. It also requires the district to begin reaching out to suburban school districts to see if they will accept Buffalo students from the 42 schools the state has labeled as failing.
