3 schools at military base in Washington state will be rebuilt

The U.S. Defense Department is sending almost $91 million to the Clover Park School District in Lakewood, Wash., to demolish and rebuild three elementary schools that serve students at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The Tacoma News-Tribune says the money will be used to replace Beachwood, Clarkmoor and Greenwood elementary schools. The renovations would benefit about 1,550 students. Washington state and Clover Park plan to spend an additional $23 million on the renovations. Last year, the school district received $47 million in similar grants to renovate its Hillside and Carter Lake schools at Lewis-McChord.
