Nebraska school board may broaden scope of criminal background checks

The North Platte (Neb.) Public Schools Board of Education is considering additions to its policy for criminal background checks for employment or volunteers.

The additions to the list of infractions it plans to track are child enticement, unlawful intrusion, violation of a harassment protection order, domestic assault, child/vulnerable adult contact with methamphetamine and a violation of a protection order.

The board will have a closed discussion on the matter, but will have an open session when it is time to make a decision on the changes, according to the North Platte Telegraph.
